The task force was created by several stakeholders in Brevard county with the help of several
stakeholders from around central Florida. These stakeholders believe a more structured and established
framework and partnership was needed to successfully combat human trafficking and empower survivors
in Brevard county and alone the east coast.
Although several agencies are currently assisting survivors of slavery; there was not a framework in the
Brevard county area that will assure a holistic continuum of services to survivors. The task force consists
of several sub-committees led by chairs and co-chairs who are leaders within their field of expertise.
Strategic Plan
Our task force is committed to bringing an end to slavery here in Brevard County and bringing justice to victims through a three fold strategic plan — prevention,
intervention and restoration.
Prevention
Includes training and awareness and community outreach as well as working with at risk and vulnerable individuals that could become victims of human trafficking.
Intervention
Includes the work of law enforcement and other agencies investigating and prosecuting the perpetrators of human trafficking.
Restoration
Includes any and all victims services available to those who are affected by human trafficking. This can be victims as well as their friends and families.
